The owner of this 1965 Ford Mustang convertible contacted the Los Angeles Police Department West LA Division and reported that vehicle had been stolen. The officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Ford Mustang.
Within less than 30 minutes from the activation, officers from the LAPD Air Support Division picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Mustang with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the air unit tracked the LoJack signal to the area of 25th St and Cimarron alerting ground units to respond to that location. Ground units from the LAPD South West Division did respond and located the classic Mustang sitting on the street. They noted that the Mustang had a car cover on and when removed, identified the vehicle as the stolen Ford Mustang. The happy owners were contacted and responded to the location indicating they had purchased the classic 1965 Ford Mustang convertible in 2009 and had LoJack installed at that time. The Mustang was released to the owners with the only damage being a broken wind wing and a punched ignition.
The LoJack® Stolen Vehicle Recovery System was installed in this Ford Mustang in August 2009.
