The owners of a 2013 Honda Accord contacted the Chicago Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from in front of their residence on the 3500 block of North Waller Avenue in Chicago’s Humboldt Park neighborhood. The Chicago Police Department verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda Accord.

Within a half hour of the vehicle being reported stolen, patrol officers from Chicago PD’s 11th District began picking up the audible and directional signals on their PTC’s Police Tracking Computers installed within their squad cars. The officers realizing the signal was moving broadcast a description of the vehicle over the zone and the vehicle was observed southbound on Homan Ave. A rolling surveillance was conducted while other squads were being called in for the arrest assist. The vehicle was curbed on the 400 Block of South Homan without incident in Chicago’s East Garfield Ridge neighborhood and two offenders were taken into custody. The offenders were charged with being in possession of the stolen vehicle and possession of narcotics.

The victim was extremely grateful to have his car recovered by the Chicago Police Department in such a timely manner. The vehicle was recovered and returned to its owner before it could be stripped, re-tagged, or damaged.

The LoJack®System was installed in the Honda Accord at McGrath City Honda in Chicago Illinois in December of 2012.
