This case involves the theft of three rented John Deere skid steers. The rental company that owned all three machines was smart enough to protect its assets with the LoJack® system. Because local law enforcement had help from LoJack, they were able to recover all three stolen skid steers in just four hours after activation.
On March 10th, 2014, a construction company discovered that three 2014 John Deere skid steers were missing from the company’s storage lot. The company owner contacted Freetown Police Department to report the crime. Officers verified the theft and entered the machines’ information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponders concealed in all three vehicles.
A short while later, officers from the Freetown PD picked up the homing signals from the stolen machines on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers located all three John Deeres hidden in a heavily wooded area off Braley Road and Route 140. All three skid steers were undamaged and soon returned to the relieved construction company.
