This situation is just plain creepy- while the Seattle, WA victim in this case slept, a burglar entered his home through a large, unsecured dog door, found the keys to his 2010 Acura MDX and took off with the SUV- which also happened to be loaded with its owner’s photography equipment. Thanks to the LoJack® system the owner had installed when purchasing his vehicle, police were able to recover it, and the equipment, that same day.
On December 23rd, 2013, the Acura’s owner contacted Seattle Police to report the crim. Officers entered the vehicle identification number into the state and federal crime computers. That process automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the MDX, which was installed at Kearney Mesa Acura in San Diego, CA.
A short while later, a King County Sheriff’s deputy received the homing signal transmitting from the stolen SUV on the LoJack tracking computer installed in his patrol car. He located the Acura parked and abandoned on 59th Avenue South. The undamaged MDX, with the photography equipment still inside, was soon returned to its thankful owner.
