There’s just no way to sugarcoat it, sometimes criminals aren’t the sharpest tools in the shed. In this story, the owner of a 2008 Scion XB contacted the Madera California Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen. The Madera Police Department verified the theft and entered the Scion’s information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the vehicle.
One hour later, a patrol officer with the Madera Police Department picked up the silent homing signals from the stolen Scion on the LoJack Police Tracking Computer installed in his patrol vehicle. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computer, the officer tracked the vehicle to a movie theater complex in northwest Madera. The vehicle was found unoccupied and abandoned in the parking lot.
The vehicle was recovered intact and was released to the owner at the scene. A male adult suspect has been identified after he inadvertently left his identification in the stolen vehicle!
The LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the 2008 Scion by Michael Automotive Center in Fresno, California in December of 2009. This vehicle is valued at $15,375.
