The owner of a 2007 Ford F-350 King Ranch contacted the St. Tammany, LA, Sheriff Office on Christmas morning to report that his vehicle had been stolen from where it was parked at a Ford Dealership in Slidell. The owner and his family were in the Slidell area for the holidays visiting family, when the truck developed a mechanical problem. It was reported that the truck was parked and secured outside the gate to the dealership on Christmas eve so that the truck could be repaired when the dealership re-opened. When the owner drove past the dealership on the way to visit family on Christmas morning, he discovered it had been stolen.

The St. Tammany Sheriff Office verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the F-350.

About two minutes later, officers from the New Orleans Police Department picked up the silent LoJack homing signals from the stolen Ford F-350 on the Police Tracking Computers installed in their patrol vehicles. By following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computers, officers tracked the signal and were able to locate the truck abandoned in a field behind a subdivision in New Orleans East. The stolen Ford F-350 was recovered in great shape and released to the owner.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the 2007 Ford F-350 King Ranch in November of 2007 at Mike Calvert Toyota of Houston, Tx. at the owner’s request.
