Besides recovering stolen cars and returning them to their owners, another great benefit of LoJack is that many times we help get criminals off the street.
In today’s story, the owner of a 2005, Infiniti G35, contacted the San Diego Police Department to report that his vehicle was stolen from a parking garage in the city of San Diego.
San Diego Police Department verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Infinity.
A short while later, officers from San Diego Police Department and California Highway Patrol picked up the silent LoJack homing signals from the stolen Infinity G35 and tracked the vehicle to a driveway in a residential area at 3200 Van Dyke Street in San Diego. The officers also found a 2010 Subaru parked next to the Infinity that was also reported stolen with San Diego Police Department earlier that day.
California Highway Patrol Vehicle Theft Investigators responded to continue the investigation. Further investigation and consent search of the residence resulted in the arrest of three suspects for vehicle theft and various narcotic charges. It was also determined that the owners of the Infinity G35 had another Infinity stolen from the same location that same day.
The owner was very happy when California Highway Patrol contacted them to advise that the vehicle was recovered undamaged. The Infinity G35 was valued at approximately $19,000.00.
The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the infinity G35 on October 10, 2005 at Discover Infinity in San Diego.
