On July 23, 2012, four brazen con men posing as utility workers gained entry to the home of an elderly handicapped man in Daly City California. The suspects terrorized the victim, stealing cash and valuables. The suspects also forced the victim to give up his ATM PIN and the keys to his car.
After the frightening ordeal ended, the owner contacted the Daly City Police Department to report the crimes. Daly City PD verified the robbery and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the vehicle.
Several hours later, officers from San Francisco PD picked up the silent LoJack homing signals from the stolen Honda. Officers tracked the stolen Honda and located it stopped in traffic. The driver and three other suspects from the robbery were detained and arrested for several felony charges. Not only did the police recover the victim’s vehicle – undamaged – they also were able to recover his stolen possessions. Daly City Police are conducting the investigation.
The LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery System was installed in this vehicle on 4/14/2008 in Colma CA. at Honda of Sierramonte. For more coverage on this story, please visit the San Francisco Examiner.
