The owner’s of a construction company discovered that their storage lot had been broken into during the night and a skid steer loader and trailer stolen.
The police were notified and they promptly entered the data into the nationwide law enforcement stolen vehicle computer. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed on the loader.
Later in the day officers with the Longmont Police Department picked up the silent homing signals coming from the stolen loader with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC’s) that are installed in patrol cars. The stolen equipment was located in Longmont and the investigation was taken over by Longmont PD and Colorado State Patrol Investigators with the Northern Colorado Auto Theft Task Force.
The stolen equipment was recovered and one suspect arrested.
This is the second time that this Skid Steer loader has been stolen and in both incidents LoJack has lead the police to the equipment and aided them in making an arrest.
