The owner of a Porsche 911 had their vehicle stolen out of Hollywood, CA. After discovering the theft, they contacted the police. Just seven minutes after the vehicle was entered as stolen by law enforcement into the National Crime Information Center computers, patrol officers with LAPD-North Hollywood began picking up the silent LoJack homing signal from the Porsche. The vehicle was tracked to the area of Valley Spring Lane and Valleyheart Drive. The vehicle was located, parked and unoccupied. Detectives from the Auto Theft Task Force were notified and responded to the location. They monitored the whereabouts of the vehicle, which moved to the city of Rialto.
Detectives, assisted by “Sand Cats Auto Theft Unit”, executed a search warrant at a private residence, were they recovered the stolen Porsche 911 inside of a garage. Also recovered were a stolen (chopped up) 1989 Porsche 911, along with two additional chopped up Porsches, and a stolen 1967 Chevrolet Chevelle, which had been VIN switched. Numerous stolen vehicles parts and stereos were also recovered.
The suspects have been indentified, and the case is still under investigation.
